The Kremlin says the armed attack on Ukraine is not intended to occupy the country. Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said this on Thursday, February 24.
"No one is talking about occupation. And in this case that word is not applicable here," he said.Answering a question concerning whether it is possible to replace Ukraine's leadership, Peskov said:
"The rest will be a matter of choice for the Ukrainian people. "Peskov also said that the goal of the attack is to demilitarize Ukraine.
"This means the neutralization of the military potential, which has recently been pretty much spruced up, including thanks to the active activities of foreign countries," he said.
At the same time, Peskov said that Russia is ready to communicate with Ukraine's leadership if they are willing to talk about the issues raised by Russia.
"Why not, if Ukraine is ready to talk about Moscow's security concerns," he added.
