Today opened the seventh session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the ninth convocation. On the agenda is the creation of a number of temporary investigative commissions and a prize for external independent evaluation.

 

The new session of the Rada was opened by Ruslan Stefanchuk, the speaker of the parliament.

 

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky came to the session.

 

In the coming days, Ukraine is preparing to sign an agreement on a free trade zone with Turkey. This was said by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky during a speech in the Verkhovna Rada.

 

The President noted that last week he held talks with 80 representatives of foreign countries and international organizations. They are unanimous about supporting Ukraine.

 

"We provide financial stability guarantees for our state, we are preparing to give a strong economic signal - to sign a free trade agreement with Turkey already during these two days. Our group is working, I am sure we will agree on everything," he said.

 

In the coming days should also be agreed date of the next meeting of advisers in the "Normandy format" in Berlin, where the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky is expected to agree on a meeting of the leaders of the "Normandy quartet". The head of state said this during a speech in the Verkhovna Rada.

 

"The unity has unblocked the Normandy format, showed the readiness for dialogue, gave hope for de-escalation and a peaceful settlement. For the first time since 2019, all four sides agreed on a joint final statement. We are actively working to agree the date of the next meeting of the advisors in Berlin in the coming days, where, hopefully, there will be an agreement on a meeting of the leaders of the Normandy quartet," the head of state said.

 

The President in his speech also said that the news has become a new weapon. According to him, Ukrainians need unity in the information field.

 

"In times when the media field is the new battlefield, news is the new weapon, and any messages, especially those built on anonymous sources, have a real and great impact on our people, on people's psyche, on our state. Especially on our economy," he said.

 

As expected, today the Rada will also adopt a draft agenda for the seventh session, will decide on the creation of a number of WSCs, as well as bonuses to participants in WSCs.

 

In particular, parliamentarians plan to consider the creation of the WSC to investigate the facts that contributed to the temporary occupation of Crimea, the facts of corruption in state enterprises, institutions and organizations of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine, as well as the murder of the judge of the Avtozavodsky District Court of Kremenchuk Poltava region Oleksandr Lobodenok and city head of Kremenchuk Oleg Babaev.
