People's deputy Geo Leros was handed a suspicion for an indecent gesture, which he showed while speaking from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada, November 4. This was reported to UNN in the press service of the State Bureau of Investigation.
"Investigators of the GBI within the framework of the investigation of criminal proceedings found that on November 4, 2021, the people's deputy, speaking from the parliamentary rostrum, made insulting remarks about the highest officials of the state. At the same time he did not react to the remarks of the chairman of the meeting and continued such actions even after the microphone was switched off by the chairman's decision. Realizing that the speech would not be recorded by the media, he showed an indecent gesture, demonstrating contempt for generally accepted norms of morality and social environment," noted in the SIU.
It noted that the MP's actions clearly demonstrated the goal of creating his own media and political image, increasing his own media visibility, attracting the attention of the media, society and other politicians to his personality.
At the same time, the parliamentarian abused his powers of a people's deputy of Ukraine to speak during the discussion of a government member, the GBI pointed out.
Leros is suspected of gross violation of public order on grounds of clear disrespect for society (Part 1 Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The sanction of the article provides for a fine of up to 4 thousand untaxed minimum incomes of citizens or arrest for up to 6 months, or restraint of liberty for up to 5 years.
Leros himself wrote on Facebook: "GBI and GPU want to put me in jail for showing "middle finger".
Recall, during the appointment of Alexei Reznikov to the post of Minister of Defense Geo Leros resorted to public insults and obscene gestures to the President of Ukraine. Before leaving the podium, Leros managed to show Zelensky the middle finger.
