We have the right to defend ourselves: Melnik responded to Berlin's "concern" about Bayraktar drones

Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany Andriy Melnyk responded to Berlin's "concerns" about the use of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' Bayraktar drones, saying that Ukraine has the right to defend itself. He stated this in an interview with Bild.

In particular, the German government's negative assessment of the use of Bayraktar drones provoked reactions from the Ukrainian ambassador in Berlin. Melnyk called on the German federal government to redouble its efforts as a mediator to convene a Normandy summit in Berlin.

"Ukraine has a legitimate right to self-defense when its territory is being bombed day and night with Russian heavy weapons and when civilians and soldiers are being killed. We therefore call on the federal government, instead of expressing concern about the dramatic situation in the occupied territories, to redouble its efforts as a mediator to convene the Normandy summit in Berlin, as agreed, and put Moscow in its place," the ambassador said.

The AFU first used a Bayraktar drone in the OOS zone on October 26. After that, the German Foreign Ministry expressed concern over, among other things, a report that the Ukrainian armed forces used a drone in response to shelling and the death of one soldier and wounding of another.
