Today Ukraine can leave the list of COVID-safe countries for travel to the European Union. Fate of visa-free travel

If Ukraine leaves the list of safe countries from which entry into the EU is not restricted because of the coronavirus, minor restrictions will be imposed on Ukrainian travels abroad. It should be noted that the restrictions will affect tourism and will be temporary in nature.

While the EU decides on the exclusion of Ukraine from the "green" list, the speaker of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Oleh Mykolenko, noted that Ukrainians should not succumb to panic. Restrictions will be introduced in case of an increase in the incidence of coronavirus in Ukraine. And the "green" list is a dynamic document.

«The EU may adopt a recommendation to remove our state from the list of countries whose citizens can carry out non-essential travel to the European Union. Brussels reviews the list of countries every two weeks and adjusts it depending on the development of the epidemic situation,» - said the spokesman of the Foreign Ministry.

In addition, Oleg Nikolenko explained that possible temporary restrictions on the entry of Ukrainian tourists to the EU will not affect the visa-free regime of the country with the EU countries.

«The decision may also be later reconsidered at the next update of the list in case the epidemic situation improves,»  the diplomat concluded.

The speaker also drew attention to the advisory nature of the "green list" and the fact that each country is authorized to make its own decisions on entry restrictions.

The list of countries where there are no entry restrictions for Ukrainian nationals is posted on the website of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.
