"The parliament of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia rejected the request of the diaspora group to organize a second referendum on renaming the country to Northern Macedonia in exchange for NATO membership and potential membership in the European Union," the report said.

It is known that out of 120 congressmen 49 deputies voted for the corresponding decision.

According to the message, the corresponding request of the diaspora was previously approved by the relevant committee of the parliament. However, according to Speaker Talat Xhaferi, in accordance with Macedonian law, a second referendum cannot be held in the country on the same issue within two years after the first one.

We recall that the Greek Parliament on Friday, January 25, approved an agreement to rename the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia into the Republic of Northern Macedonia.
