Kyiv: Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras announced his intention to bring the issue of confidence in the government to the parliament. The reason for this decision was the resignation of the Minister of Defense of Greece Panos Kammenos.

“Now we are approaching the need to restore parliament’s confidence in the government so that it can continue to fulfill its responsibilities,” said Tsipras in a statement.

The prime minister said he wants to confirm confidence in the parliament after the resignation of the defense minister and the leader of the Independent Greeks party. Kammenos resigned due to disagreements with the country's prime minister on an agreement to change the name of Macedonia.

The decision of no confidence to the government may be taken by 151 members of parliament. This is the number of representatives that the opposition has. Voting will take place on January 17th.

We recall that the Parliament of Macedonia adopted an amendment to the Constitution to rename the country in the Republic of Northern Macedonia.
