Kyiv: President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that the Belarusian representative will be the new CSTO Secretary-General.

About this Belarusian media wrote.

“We unexpectedly almost met the CSTO. And in principle, we solved the problem of appointing a general secretary,” Lukashenko said on the margins of the EEU and CIS summits in St. Petersburg.

At the beginning of November, the President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, stated at the end of the session of the CSTO Collective Security Council that the next CSTO Secretary-General after Armenia should be chosen from Belarus.

In turn, the Acting Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, said that it was not the post of the CSTO Secretary General who was important for Yerevan, but the obligations of the organization’s countries in connection with the Karabakh conflict. He expressed confidence that the CSTO can prevent Azerbaijan from resolving the Karabakh issue by military means.

We recall that in no case will Armenia withdraw from the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
