Vienna: During his visit to Austria, Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus Oleg Kravchenko met with OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier.
Migration issues were raised at high-level discussions, it was organized under the auspices of the Government of the Republic of Belarus in the Central European Initiative and the current Austrian OSCE chairmanship.
During the meeting Kravchenko focused his attention on the experience gained by his state in the management of migration flows, including the development of national legislation and the conclusion of agreements in the migration sphere with international partners.
"Belarusian law enforcement agencies have made a significant contribution to European security by combating illegal migration both at the national level and through joint operations under the Collective Security Treaty Organization," Kravchenko said.
During the discussion, the Belarusian side made a number of specific recommendations on strengthening cooperation at the international level and combining the efforts of international organizations on migration issues, in particular, by strengthening the national capacity of states and ensuring the exchange of experience and best practices in the field of migration.
Kravchenko spoke in favor of expanding cooperation between the CEI and the OSCE in the field of migration and in other areas that are of mutual interest.
Earlier, Russia and Belarus signed documents on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
