KYIV (FNI) - Russian President Vladimir Putin received the best legendary players in the Kremlin who gave him a T-shirt. This was reported in the Kremlin.

The meeting was attended by Diego Forlan, Lothar Matthaus, Marco van Basten, Rio Ferdinand, Peter Schmeichel, Jorge Campos, Zvonimir Boban, as well as First Vice President of the Russian Football Union Nikita Simonyan. They were invited to Russia by FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

"The championship itself (as I imagine it) passes, it seems to me, very good, on a high note, a lot of surprises. Of the 32 teams, only eight remained. You, world-class experts, maybe, when the press is gone, share with me those who, in your opinion, will be the owner of the cup this year, "Putin told football players.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino said that everyone who came to Russia at the World Cup fell in love with it.

"You're talking about stereotypes: yes, it's true, maybe they were. But when a person comes here, when he is here for a while, when he meets people who live here, when he sees Moscow, for example, in its utterly ineffable beauty, as it happens now, when he sees all the colors, all the people who come take part in the World Cup matches, when he sees fans from different countries who paint their faces in the colors of the national flag, as these fans celebrate together with the Russians, sees the whole atmosphere - he can not help falling in love with the country. He sees what Russia is doing for this World Cup, "Infantino said.

It should be noted that also at a meeting in the Kremlin on June 27, US presidential adviser John Bolton asked Russian President Vladimir Putin how he manages to successfully cope with the World Cup, which Russia accepts.

The Football World Cup 2018 in Russia runs from June 14 to July 15 at 12 stadiums in 11 cities of the country.
