Altena: Yesterday evening, November 27, an unknown man with a knife attacked the Mayor of Altena, Germany, Andreas Holstein.

According to local media, Holstein was immediately taken to the hospital, but now he is already at home. "I was born in a shirt and I'm glad that I'm still alive," Holstein told the local edition of Lokalstimme.

The attacker was arrested. He was a 56-year-old local. According to the owner of the store, where the attack occurred, he went to the store after Holstein and asked whether the city's head really was. Then the attacker complained that more and more migrants came to Altena and wounded him in the neck, and the employee of the store also suffered.

"The security forces assume that behind this attack there are political motives," said Prime Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia Armin Laschet.

The Mayor of Altena is known in Germany for his liberal policy towards migrants, in particular, his city accepts many more migrants of a certain standard. For this in May this year, Holstein received an award from German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
