Geneva: President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev held a summit in Switzerland on Monday, October 16, under the auspices of the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group. During the summit, the issue of peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict was discussed.

Foreign Ministers of the countries Edward Nalbandian and Elmar Mammadyarov also attended the meeting. From the OSCE, Igor Popov from Russia, Stefan Visconti from France and Andrew Chaufer from the United States of America took part in the discussion. The Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Andrzej Kasprzyk also took part in the summit.

The Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed to take measures to intensify the negotiation process and take additional steps to reduce tensions in the line of contacts. As a next step in the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the co-chairs will organize working meetings with ministers in the near future.

During his speech at the 72nd session of the General Assembly, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan stated that the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh is far from being settled.
