Geneva: Former head of the Odessa regional administration Mikheil Saakashvili met with Ukrainian oligarch Igor Kolomoisky on the eve of his return to Ukraine.

According to the sources of the "Ukrainian Truth", the meeting took place on September 7 in the Geneva hotel Four Seasons.

Former head of the Odessa region Mikheil Saakashvili announced during a live broadcast on his Facebook page that he will return to Ukraine on September 10. He also said that he plans to prove his innocence in court. He wants to return the Ukrainian passport through the court, arguing that "Poroshenko's decision is illegal."

On Wednesday, July 26, MP Igor Mosiychuk said that Saakashvili had been deprived of Ukrainian citizenship. Later, the deprivation of his citizenship was confirmed at the Georgian Embassy in Ukraine and the migration service. It is noted that the reason for considering this issue was providing Saakashvili himself with unreliable information when acquiring Ukrainian citizenship. In the Administration of the President of Ukraine Front News International confirmed the signing of the decree on deprivation of citizenship by Peter Poroshenko, noting that the decision was made right now, due to the fact that the Georgian side provided the necessary documents for this.

According to the former deputy prosecutor general of Ukraine David Sakvarelidze, Saakashvili was also banned from entering Ukraine. The SBU has not officially confirmed the ban on the entrance of Saakashvili's lawyers. Nevertheless, the Ukrainian border service says that in any case they will not let Saakashvili go to Ukraine if he tries to come to the country on the Ukrainian passport, which has lost its force with the loss of citizenship.

On Monday, July 31, lawyer Pavel Bogomazov said that the state bodies of Ukraine deprived the former head of the Odessa region Saakashvili of the right to defend, without providing the necessary documents for the formation of an administrative claim. However, the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine confirmed to lawyers that there are no criminal proceedings against Mikheil Saakashvili in Ukraine.

The scandal with deprivation of citizenship of Saakashvili caused a negative reaction in the countries of Europe. In particular, the deputy of the European Parliament Petras Ašštrevičius allowed the possibility of granting political asylum to Lithuania's third president Mikheil Saakashvili. According to the deputy of the Latvian parliament Boris Tsilevich, the deprivation of the Ukrainian citizenship of Saakashvili is illegal.

On Friday, August 5, Georgia's third president Mikheil Saakashvili arrived in Poland. Three days later, the Polish media reported that Saakashvili had left their country. But already on Tuesday, August 8, Saakashvili arrived in Lithuania.
