Ukraine agreed with the OECD on a four-year cooperation program

Ukraine signed a partnership agreement with the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), which launched a four-year program to support reforms and recovery, and will help Kyiv move closer to membership in the organization and the European Union.

This is stated in the report of the OECD.

The program was adopted in Paris at a meeting of the OECD Council at ministerial level between the organization's Secretary General Matthias Kormann and Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal, who joined the event online.

According to Kormann, the program reflects Kyiv's priorities, which are strengthening institutions and governance, continuing the fight against corruption, attracting private investment and "creating the foundations for long-term prosperity and opportunities for the country's population."

"It will help bring Ukraine closer to OECD standards and best practices and, finally, will contribute to Ukraine's accession to the EU," he said.

The implementation of the program will be coordinated by the OECD-Ukraine Liaison Office, opened in early 2023.

The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development is an intergovernmental organization that unites 38 member countries, which account for more than 62% of world GDP. OECD members declare their commitment to the principles of democracy and market economy.

In October 2022, the Council of the OECD, after Ukraine submitted a corresponding application, recognized it as a potential member of the Organization and started a preliminary dialogue on accession.
