Kyiv: The Verkhovna Rada registered a bill "On Amending Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine (Concerning the Fight Against Terrorism)" (Register No. 6438). This is stated on the official website of the parliament, Front News International reports.
"The purpose of the bill is to define the concepts of" nuclear terrorism" and "act of nuclear terrorism ", as well as criminal responsibility for the commission of terrorist acts using nuclear, chemical, bacteriological (biological) and other means of mass destruction, their components or high-risk facilities ", - it is said in the explanatory note to the bill.
Thus, according to the text of the explanatory note, it is proposed to achieve the goal by introducing appropriate changes to the Criminal Code of Ukraine and the laws of Ukraine "On Combating Terrorism", "On Physical Protection of Nuclear Installations, Nuclear Materials, Radioactive Waste, Other Sources of Ionizing Radiation."
In addition, the adoption of the bill will increase the effectiveness of efforts by law enforcement and other state bodies to identify, prevent and suppress acts of terrorism using weapons of mass destruction, will testify to Ukraine's support for the measures taken by the international community to combat these crimes, to promote the harmonization of national legislation in the sphere Fight against terrorism with the requirements of international standards.
The Government of Ukraine on May 11th approved the draft decree of the President of Ukraine "On the appointment of life-long state nominal scholarships to Ukrainian citizens, who were persecuted for human rights activities."
