Brussels: European Council (EC) agreed to increase bloc’s budget by 6,2 milliard euros, EU press service stated on Friday.

It’s noted that decision about budget increase for 2020 was made due to worsening Covid-19 epidemic situation.

Besides that, it’s also known that part of means will be used for prepayment for order of necessary amount of vaccine doses. 

According to decision, compensation of instruments for EU external action will be increased by 1,09 milliard euros. Moreover, 5,1 milliard euros are planned to be allocated for Corona Respo Corona Response Investment Initiative (CRII) and Corona Response Investment Initiative Plus (CRII +).

According to WHO (World Health Organization), total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases exceeded 28 million worldwide among with 298 476 have ended up lethal.
