Kyiv: At least 20 people died in the result of explosion at a mosque in the town of Narayanganj which is situated nearly several kilometers south of Bangladeshi capital Dhaka. It was stated by local news agency The Daily Star on Saturday.
According to preliminary information, gas leak caused the explosion.
The chief of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Department Rahmatullah Chowdhury noted that the entire ground floor turned into a "gas chamber" due to accumulation of gas leaked from the gas line. Moreover, local officials preclude the version of terroristic act.
It’s specified that the electric system was turned off shortly before incident.
,,The mosque was switched on сontinuously supplying power but light suddenly was turned on. Any sparkle at the junction box could cause the explosion after re-switching’’, the agency states.
