Kyiv: British airline EasyJet will reduce its staff by 30% to 4,500 employees to adapt to the new conditions of the aviation market in the context of the Coronavirus pandemic.
This is stated in a statement released on Thursday, May 28.
It is also planned to reduce the aircraft fleet by 15% , to 302 aircraft by the end of 2021.
“In order to restructure the business, EasyJet will soon launch a consultation process with employees to reduce staff by 30%” the statement said.
Summing up, the airline emphasized that the amount of capex to 2021 will decrease from 900 million pounds to 600 million.
“Most of the expected expenses in the second half of 2020 and in the financial year 2021-2022 are associated with rental payments for aircraft, as well as with aircraft maintenance” the press service concluded.
Earlier it was reported that hackers attacked the server of the British airline EasyJet, stealing data from about 9 million customers and credit card information of more than 2.2 thousand of them.
