Kyiv: German Chancellor Angela Merkel announced the need to allocate additional funds to the International Monetary Fund, the World Health Organization and the United Nations against the backdrop of the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
This was announced by her during a video conference with the participation of leaders of the UN member countries on Thursday, May 28.
According to her, such measures will contribute to the "accelerated" recovery of the global economy after the crisis caused by the Coronavirus pandemic.
“Additional financing can also be considered when it becomes necessary to provide liquidity to vulnerable states in a short time”, Merkel noted.
According to WHO data, more than 5.4 million cases of Coronavirus infection were recorded in the world and more than 330 thousand patients recovered.
