Kyiv: Austria’s borders will be open only when each of the neighboring countries takes control of the Coronavirus pandemic.
This statement was made by Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurtz during a press conference on Thursday, May 21.
At the same time, Kurtz said that there are no prospects for opening the border with Italy yet. “
Tourism for us is an important sector of the economy. We will do everything so that we do not endanger our health, so that the number of infected remains low. In no case will we open our borders to countries that have not yet taken control of the situation. On the other hand, we certainly intend to preserve jobs in our country that depend on tourism,” he said.
The second stage of mitigation of quarantine measures introduced due to the Coronavirus pandemic will begin from May 29 in Austria. The first phase of lifting restrictions began on April 14 with a “two-week step”.
