Kyiv: Winners of the BigPicture Natural World Photography Competition of the California Academy of Sciences announced.
For the main prizes fought authors of the best photos about the animal world. This year more than 6,000 photographers from 63 countries took part in the competition. The contest was held for the fourth time.
The winner in this year was the German photographer Britta Jaschinski with the work "Confiscated", which depicts chairs made of elephant legs.
"These chairs are just an example of many of the deeply disturbing things people are trying to get across borders and airports around the world." The US Fish and Wildlife Service stores 1.3 million confiscated items in a warehouse in Colorado, which are used to move confiscated items around the warehouse. I placed them against this background in order to give dignity to objects and respect animals that lose their lives for the status, greed and superstition of people, "Yaschinski commented on her work.
In New York, the tenth annual prize of the iPhone Photography Awards was held. Among the photos sent, the winners were determined in 19 subject headings.
