Kiev: President Vladimir Zelensky admits that the issue of concluding a new contract for the transit of Russian gas to Europe through Ukraine will be discussed as part of the Norman meeting. He stated this in an interview with Der Spiegel.
Zelensky noted that in the case of the conclusion of a gas agreement between Ukraine and the Russian Federation, Nord Stream-2 will not be a political project.
“Although our European partners claim that this is not a political, but an economic project (Nord Stream-2), I will allow myself to disagree. However, if we manage to conclude a new transit agreement for up to ten years, if Europeans help us, and Russia will not oppose this, then we will be able to say that Nord Stream-2 is not a political project. So far, this statement is without any reason", - he said.
The President of Ukraine does not exclude that gas transit will also be considered in the Norman format.
"For me, it is important that the gas problem is a matter in itself. Whatever both parties wish, they should in no way be connected with the Donbass. Although I do not exclude that gas transit is also considered in the Norman format", - he added.
