Kiev: Naftogaz Ukrain responded to the official proposal of the Russian Gazprom regarding relations in the gas sector in 2020. This was written by the executive director of the Naftogaz group, Yuri Vitrenko, on his Facebook page.
As Vitrenko noted, the response indicated that the parties should continue to discuss the extension of transit under European rules in a trilateral format with the participation of the European Commission.
In response, Naftogaz recalled that the implementation of European rules in Ukraine is proceeding on an agreed schedule, so Gazprom has every opportunity to conclude a new long-term contract for gas transit through Ukraine according to these rules.
“We have once again noted that Naftogaz agrees with the option of concluding a transit contract proposed by the Vice President of the European Commission Marosh Shevchovich. I’ll add that we have no doubt that this option meets both the European rules and the legitimate interests of the Ukrainian and the Russian side", - wrote Vitrenko.
Naftogaz also recalled the debt of Gazprom by the decision of the Stockholm arbitration to $ 3 billion. "We are satisfied with the money, but if Gazprom wants to pay this debt due to gas supplies, we are ready to consider such a proposal", the representative of Naftogaz added.
At the same time, the response said that the settlement of previous and new disputes between Naftogaz and Gazprom, the withdrawal of a complaint to the EU antimonopoly body about violations by Gazprom, as well as the settlement of the fine that the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine imposed on Gazprom, "cannot be a prerequisite for the continuation of transit, since a new transit contract should be concluded according to European rules with an operator separate from Naftogaz, and such a contract should be fair and balanced by itself yourself", - Vitrenko said.
