Nord Stream-2 begins arbitration against the European Union
Kiev: The operator of the Nord Stream-2 project, Nord Stream 2 AG, began arbitration against the European Union due to amendments to the Gas Directive.
This is stated in the prospectus for Gazprom Eurobonds.
“On September 26, 2019, Nord Stream 2 AG announced the commencement of a special arbitration ... against the EU under the Energy Charter Treaty. Nord Stream 2 AG considers that the EU has violated its obligations set forth in Articles 10 and 13 of the Energy Charter Treaty by accepting discriminatory amendments to the Gas Directive ", - the document says.
It is also reported that a lawsuit has been filed with the Court of Justice of the European Union on the partial cancellation of amendments due to the short deadlines for issuing exceptions for projects falling under them.
Nord Stream 2 AG believes that the innovations are directed directly against SP-2, and their task is to create obstacles to its implementation.
In particular, the directive implies a ban on a fuel producing company to simultaneously own a gas pipeline.
