Kiev: Senior White House adviser Kellianne Conway said she
doesn’t know if President Donald Trump was holding military aid to Ukraine, but
stressed that there was no talk about “service for service” between Trump and
President Vladimir Zelensky.
She said this on air of CNN, reports "European
Truth".
Her comments sounded after the House of Representatives
passed a resolution on impeachment, which outlines the procedures for
investigating the impeachment of the president, focused on a July 25 phone call
between Trump and President Vladimir Zelensky. A whistleblower complaint
alleges that Trump was pushing Zelensky to investigate former vice president
Joe Biden and his son Hunter.
Conway said in response to a question about retaining aid to
Ukraine that, from the president’s point of view, it wasn’t about "service
for service."
"President Trump never told the Ukrainian
president:" do it, and you will get your help. It just wasn't there”, - she said.
“I am sure that Ukraine has this help and is using it right
now. It is because of this president that they have it”, - Conway emphasized.
At the same time, she noted that she did not know whether
the assistance to Ukraine had been sustained and how long it had been going on.
Several Trump administration officials in the national
intelligence and diplomatic corps told House investigators that Trump
temporarily held back money allocated to help Kiev fight pro-Russian separatists
in the east in an attempt to increase pressure on Ukraine to open
investigations that could help him in his political struggle.
