Kiev: People’s deputies on Wednesday, October 16, adopted in the second reading the presidential bill on the activities of the judiciary. For the law No. 1008 "On amendments to some laws of Ukraine regarding the activities of judicial administration" 236 deputies voted.

We are talking about amendments to the laws "On the judicial system and the status of judges", "On the purification of power" and "On the High Council of Justice".

The document reduces the composition of the Supreme Court from 200 to 100 judges, introduces a new procedure for the formation of the High Qualification Commission of Judges, creates a commission of virtue and ethics at the High Council of Justice, expands the list of posts covered by lustration.

Not a single faction, except for the Servant of the people, voted for the bill. Against factions voted Voice, European Solidarity and the Opposition Platform - For Life.

The Verkhovna Rada Committee supported the draft law. Parliamentarians rejected a number of amendments proposed by people's deputies. In particular, it was proposed to maintain the composition of the Armed Forces in the amount of 200 judges, and not 100.
