Kiev: US Vice President Mike Pence will fly to Ankara within 24 hours to convince Turkish authorities to stop the offense in northern Syria against the Kurds.
It is reported by Reuters with reference to a senior administration of US President Donald trump.
According to the official, the United States will continue to exert diplomatic pressure on Turkey, in particular, with additional sanctions to force it to stop the military operation in Syria.
Washington believes that the offensive of Ankara caused a “mess” in the relatively calm northern part of Syria.
The US wants to bring the situation back to normal, the main element of this is a ceasefire.
“By ceasefire, I mean that the forces on earth stop moving. Of course, Turkish forces, but I think that we could probably talk about the Force of Democratic Syria (Kurdish US allies - ed.)”, - the representative of the administration said.
Recall, the US has already imposed sanctions against Turkey due to the offensive in Syria.
