Kyiv: UN Secretary-General António Guterres expressed concern about the exacerbation of the situation in the Syrian province of Idlib and called on all parties to the conflict to respect the truce.
This is stated in the statement of the Secretary General, published on the UN website.
“I urge all parties to adhere to their obligations and contribute to the implementation of the cease-fire agreement in Idlib. Counter-terrorism operations do not abrogate the responsibility to protect civilians. The truce in Idlib is a necessary step towards a cease-fire throughout the country,” the document says.
Guterres also called on the world community to continue to support the search for a political solution to the conflict.
