Kyiv: The court in Yerevan extended the arrest of former Armenian President Robert Kocharian for 2 months.
His lawyer Aram Orbelyan announced this after a court hearing on March 15.
The defender said that the court’s decision would be appealed.
As it is known, on July 26, 2018, the Special Investigation Service of Armenia charged Kocharian with the violent overthrow of the constitutional order in 2008 and appealed to the court to choose arrest as a preventive measure.
In turn, the team of arrested lawyers is going to file a lawsuit with the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), demanding to recognize their client as a political prisoner.
