Tbilisi: Special Representative of the Georgian Prime Minister for Relations with the Russian Federation Zurab Abashidze stated that Georgia’s cooperation with NATO is not directed against Russia.

He stated this in an interview with the Public Television of Georgia.

“The Russian leadership believes that the integration of Georgia into NATO creates some tension in the region and creates a threat to the Russian Federation. We want to responsibly declare that the cooperation of our country with the alliance is in no way directed against anyone, not directed against the Russian Federation,” said Abashidze.

Earlier, Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Grigory Karasin stated that the joint military exercise of Georgia and NATO, scheduled for March of this year, do not contribute to stability and confidence strengthening in the South Caucasus region.
