Kyiv: Georgian teacher Lado Apkhazava, who works in the village of Chibati in the Guria region, entered the top ten in the Global Teacher Prize 2019 competition. The press service of the competition reports this.

"In 2017, Apkhazava won the National Teacher's Award, so that he had the opportunity to take part in the Global Teacher Prize contest, in which annually an outstanding teacher in the world is awarded a cash prize of one million dollars," the message said.

It is known that this year 10,000 applications from 179 countries of the world were received. And the top ten in the video message announced the famous Hollywood actor Hugh Jackman.

“When I was little, there were a lot of heroes that I wanted to turn into. However, now I can say that in my opinion, taking into account all my experience, there are teachers as real superheroes - they are changing the world,” said the actor.

It is noted that the winner will be announced on March 24 at the Global Education and Skills Forum in Dubai. On the eve of the finalists, there will be a gala concert where teachers can tell their inspirational stories.
