Kyiv: Pope Francis sent a response to a letter of help, which he received last week from the president of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro.
This is reported by the local media.
“Unfortunately, all attempts came to nothing, because what was agreed at the meetings was not followed by specific measures to implement the agreements,” he wrote.
At the same time, the pontiff said that he favored a dialogue between the parties, which, however, must meet certain requirements.
“This is a dialogue in which the parties of the conflict view the common good above other interests and aim to achieve unity and peace,” added the Pope.
We recall that the leader of the Venezuelan opposition, Juan Guaido, previously declared himself interim president.
