Kyiv: Russia has the last chance to return to the implementation of the Treaty on the Restriction of Small and Medium-Range Missiles and to save it. This was announced by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
“We (the ministers of defense) will discuss the violation of Russia of the INF. Moscow continues to develop and has already deployed several SSC-8 battalions (9M729), despite the efforts of the United States and other allies, who have tried for many years to convince Russia to return to the implementation of the agreement,” Stoltenberg said.
The NATO Secretary General also recalled that very soon, namely in 6 months, the United States could withdraw from this treaty.
“Therefore, from now on Russia has the last chance to return to the responsible path, return to the execution of the treaty and save the INF. We urge Russia to seize this opportunity,” the Secretary General added.
We recall that after withdrawing from the Treaty on Intermediate-Range and Short-Range Missiles (INF), the United States intends to create missiles prohibited by this agreement in consultation with its partners and allies.
