Kyiv: Acting Secretary of Defense and Pentagon Chief Pat Shanahan on February 11 made an unofficial visit to Afghanistan. This is reported by the media.

“In negotiations with Afghan leaders, I will emphasize the need to achieve peace with the Taliban. Part of the leaders in Afghanistan opposes any peace agreement with the Taliban, and the Taliban themselves are so far refusing to negotiate with the government in Kabul, calling the officials Western puppets,” said Pat Shanahan.

In addition, the official said that he was not given any instructions regarding the reduction of the number of troops in Afghanistan.

We recall that representatives of the Taliban reminded the United States of its constant demand for the withdrawal of all foreign forces from Afghanistan.
