Kyiv: The French Foreign Ministry summoned the Italian envoy after statements by the Italian Deputy Prime Minister Luigi Di Maio, in which he accused Paris of continuing to colonize Africa.
This is reported by the Western media.
We recall that on January 19, during a visit to the Abruzzo region, Di Maio criticized the policy of France in Africa.
"If there are people who are now leaving Africa, it is because some European countries, and in particular France, have never stopped colonizing Africa," the official said.
The vice-premier added that if France did not have its African colonies, it would be the 15th economy in the world.
Official Paris called the comments of the Italian Deputy Prime Minister inadmissible.
