Minsk: President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, in an interview with the representative of Kyiv in the humanitarian subgroup on Donbass Viktor Medvedchuk, spoke in favor of an early resolution of the conflict in the east of the country.
The Belarusian president noted that it is very important for him to hear Medvedchuk's position on what is happening in Ukraine.
“This misunderstanding (I cannot describe it otherwise) must end. These are fraternal republics and peoples. […] This is a gift to our enemies and rivals,” he said.
Lukashenko stressed that he knows about the position of the Ukrainian politician on the issue of normalizing relations between Moscow and Kyiv.
For his part, Medvedchuk noted the role of Belarus and Lukashenko personally in the peaceful settlement in the Donbas.
He stressed that Belarus provided a platform for negotiations and the Minsk agreements continue to be perceived as the only peace plan. At the same time, the politician regretfully stated that they are not being implemented.
