Kyiv: Russia ignored the decision of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), which obliged it to provide medical assistance to Ukrainian sailors captured in the Kerch Strait.
About this, the Verkhovna Rada, the Ukrainian Parliament, Commissioner for Human Rights Lyudmyla Denisova said after meeting with relatives of prisoners of war in Odessa.
"Russia refused to comply with the decision of the ECHR ... They just wrote on the website of the FSB that all is well," said the Ombudsperson.
Denisova also added that the topic of Ukrainian sailors should be raised daily in order for Russia to finally begin to comply with international law.
"We need to talk about this every day so that they recognize our sailors as prisoners of war and act in accordance with the Geneva Convention and other international conventions in this matter," she added.
As previously reported, the International Committee of the Red Cross is asking the Russian Federation to provide ICRC representatives with access to Ukrainian sailors captured by Russia.
