Minsk: President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that Russia could lose its only ally in the western direction due to the lack of agreements on compensation for the tax maneuver in the oil sector.
He said this during a meeting with the government in Minsk on Thursday, January 10.
“We should not assume that this (lack of compensation from Moscow for the tax maneuver - ed.) is a catastrophe. If the leadership of Russia chooses such a path of movement and the loss of its only ally in the western direction, it is their choice. We cannot force them,” Lukashenko said.
At the same time, he again called on the government "not to exaggerate the problems associated with the losses of the Belarusian budget due to the tax maneuver in Russia".
