Tbilisi: The number of tourists visiting Georgia in 2018 exceeded 8.5 million.
This was stated by Georgian PM Mamuka Bakhtadze.
“The number of foreign tourists in Georgia in 2018 reached 8,679,544 people. This is a new record in the history of Georgian tourism. This is a truly unique success for the country of our scale. What does it mean? First of all, this means that interest to our country is growing every day, visitors get acquainted with our culture and see that our unique culture is part of a common European civilization," the premier said.
Bakhtadze also recalled that according to the report of the UN World Tourism Organization, Georgia is one of the fastest growing tourist destinations in the world and ranks fourth (second in Europe).
We recall that after the entry into force of the visa-free regime between Georgia and the Schengen countries, the European Union was visited by 339,255 Georgian citizens.
