Kyiv: In the European Union will not issue banknotes in nominal of 500 euros. It is reported by the press center of the European Central Bank.
"From January 27, 2019, 17 out of 19 national central banks of the eurozone will stop issuing 500 euro notes," the statement said.
It is known that for logistical reasons and for a smooth transition, countries such as Austria and Germany will use these bills before April 26th. The same banknotes that were printed before are still in use.
“The ECB announced its intention to stop issuing 500-euro bills in May 2016, arguing that it is these bills that are most often used in criminal activities,” the media wrote.
It is noted that these bills are most often used in money laundering and financial terrorism. Next to this, they are the most valuable in the world and stand next to a thousand Swiss francs banknote.
We recall that Russia wants to get certain independence of its ruble against the dollar, even against the background of the sanctions that the United States recently imposed on some of its citizens.
