Kyiv: The election campaign before the presidential elections of 2019 has started in Ukraine today. This is reported by the Ukrainian media.
It is known that the campaign will last 90 days.
“Nomination of candidates and submission of documents to the CEC for registration will be held until February 3, 2019. Within five days, there will be a registration of candidates until February 8. After that, the CEC will announce the final official list of candidates for the presidency,” the message says.
It is noted that ballots will be accepted on March 8 by the Central Election Commission.
“Registered candidates will be able to start campaigning from the day after registration and hold it until midnight on March 29,” the CEC said.
There are also special requirements for citizens who are running for president in Ukraine. This should be a person who:
1. has reached the age of 35,
2. is a citizen of Ukraine,
3. speaks the state language,
4. lives on the territory of Ukraine for the last 10 years before the election date,
5. A candidate can be nominated by a political party or he can be a self-promoted candidate.
In addition, the candidate must file a declaration of income for the previous year, that is, for 2018, which the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption will subsequently check and publish the results of the audit.
Also, the nominee for the presidency must make a cash deposit in the amount of 2.5 million hryvnias. This money can be returned to the candidate in two cases: if he wins in the first round, or moves on to another.
“You can withdraw your candidacy in the elections no later than 23 days before the voting day by submitting an application to the CEC, that is, by March 7, 2019,” add to the CEC.
It is known that the results of the vote must be established before April 10, 2019. Provided that none of the nominees will pick up more than 50% of the vote, April 21 will be 2 rounds of elections, in which 2 favorites will take part. Then the results will be known until May 1, 2019.
