Khartoum: As a result of a helicopter accident in Sudan, about seven local government officials were killed. Among the deceased are the governor of Gedaref and three security officers of the country. This was reported by the Sudanese and Western mass media.
"On Sunday, December 9, as a result of a helicopter crash in the eastern state of Al-Kadarif in the Sudan, seven local government officials were killed," the statement reads.
In addition, it was noted that part of the passengers survived. The victims were taken to the hospital.
Causes of the accident were established.
It is worth noting that the state of Gedareth is located in the east of Sudan, bordered by Ethiopia and is known as an agricultural region.
We recall that at the beginning of this year, President Sudan Omer Al-Bashir appointed Lt. Gen. Salah Abdallah Mohammed Salih as head of the National Intelligence and Security Service, an organization that actively participated in suppressing anti-government protests in Sudan, which began in January 2018.
