Kyiv: European Council President Donald Tusk will visit Ukraine early next year. This was announced by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko after a conversation with Donald Tusk during his visit to Helsinki.
“I took the opportunity and invited the leaders of the European Union, including Mr. Tusk, to visit Ukraine. The invitation was kindly accepted,” Petro Poroshenko told journalists in Helsinki after the Congress of the European People’s Party.
According to the presidential press service, the President of the European Council noted the efforts of the President of Ukraine to introduce reforms and welcomed the achievement of an important agreement with the International Monetary Fund, which will contribute to macroeconomic stabilization in Ukraine.
In turn, Petro Poroshenko thanked Donald Tusk for his firm position on the defense of Ukraine against Russian aggression.
Also in the context of preparations for the elections in Ukraine and the European Union to be held in 2019, Petro Poroshenko and Donald Tusk recognized the need to strengthen the coordination of efforts of Ukraine and the EU in countering external interference from Russia through cyber attacks, disinformation and subversive activities.
