Kyiv: Chrystia Freeland, the head of the Canadian Foreign Ministry, discussed by telephone the case of the missing journalist Jamal Khashoggi with Saudi Arabia’s foreign minister Adel al-Jubeir.
The head noted that those responsible should be held accountable, adding that Canada calls for a thorough and transparent investigation of the case. Saudi Arabia denies the charges.
Earlier, Justin Trudeau, the Prime Minister of Canada, expressed his country's concern about the situation with Khashoggi. Trudeau said that Ottawa is in constant contact with his allies to investigate the Khashoggi case.
Earlier it was reported that Turkish investigators put forward a version that Jamal Khashoggi, a journalist who criticized the Saudi regime, could have been killed.
