Kyiv: In order to preserve the ecological safety of Ukraine, President Poroshenko signed the Law “On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine Regarding the Preservation of Ukrainian Forests and Preventing the Illegal Export of Untreated Timber”.

This was reported in the press center of Presidential Administration of Ukraine.

“The relevant changes are made, in particular, to the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses, the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and the Law of Ukraine“ On the specifics of state regulation of activities of business entities related to the sale and export of timber,” the press center said.

According to the Law, fines for illegal logging and destruction of forest cultures and the young stock will be raised several times.

The government is also instructed to develop a comprehensive program for the restoration of the forest fund of Ukraine and to determine the priority amount of work on forest restoration and afforestation, forest protection from fires, protection from pests and diseases, and other forest management measures.
