Istanbul Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew appointed two Exarchs in Kiev for granting Ukraine Tomos - special certificates, which gives the canonical right to establish in the country regardless of the first autocephalous church for the parishioners of the Orthodox rite.

This was reported in the press service of Patriarch Bartholomew.

"In preparation for the provision of autocephaly to the Orthodox Church in Ukraine, the Ecumenical Patriarchate appointed His Excellency in Kyiv of His Exarchs in Kyiv, His Excellency Archbishop Daniel of Pamphylia of the United States and His Excellency Bishop Hilarion of Edmonton from Canada, who both serve the Ukrainian Orthodox faithful in their countries in the Universal Patriarchate," - reported in the press service.

Operation Council of Bishops of the Orthodox Church of Constantinople began on September 1, and addressed the issue of Ukraine Tomos - special certificates, which gives the canonical right to establish in the country regardless of the firstautocephalous church for the parishioners of the Orthodox rite.

During the Bishops' Council of the Church of Constantinople in Istanbul, the bishops decided on the question of granting the Ukrainian Orthodox Church autocephaly.
