KYIV (FNI) - China will be forced to retaliate if the United States implements any new tariff measures, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce said on Thursday.
Global markets were on the brink after US President Donald Trump threatened with new tariffs for another $ 200 billion in Chinese imports.
"If the United States, regardless of opposition, adopts any new tariff measures, China will be forced to roll out necessary retaliatory measures. China will closely monitor the impact from any fresh tariffs and adopt strong measures to help Chinese or foreign firms operating in China to overcome difficulties," official spokesman for the Ministry Gao Feng said at a press conference, the source reports.
The new duties will start directly affecting consumer goods, including furniture, lighting, tires, bicycles and car seats for babies.
Earlier it was reported that US President Donald Trump believes that China is exerting pressure on North Korea because of disagreements with Washington. Despite serious disagreements between Washington and Beijing, the White House is confident that the situation will soon be resolved.
