KYIV (FNI) - Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine detained a deputy chief of one of the district departments of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Odessa region during a bribe of three thousand dollars.

As noted, the operatives of the special services detained the lieutenant colonel of police in the center of the city at the time of receiving an unjustified benefit. For this amount, the attacker promised the victim to assist in the fraudulent case.
"Law enforcers established that using the official position, the deputy head of the district department - the head of the investigation department systematically demanded an undue benefit from the persons involved in cases for speeding up the investigation, completing the pre-trial investigation in their interests and sending the materials to the court," the report said.
According to law enforcers, during an authorized search in the office, officials found another four thousand US dollars and fifteen pieces of gold.
According to Part 3 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (receiving a bribe in an especially large amount by an officer holding a particularly responsible position), the detainee must declare suspicion and elect a preventive measure.
The sanction of this article provides for imprisonment from eight to twelve years with confiscation of property and deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years.
