KYIV (FNI) - In central Nigeria, as a result of clashes between shepherds and farmers, 86 people were killed. In addition, 50 houses were destroyed. The clashes occurred in the Nigerian state of the Plateau.
One of the reasons for such clashes is the attacks of the extremist organization "Boko Haram" on people. Because of the danger, the shepherds are forced to look for a new place for grazing. Thus, they are increasingly invading the territory of agricultural communities, transferred to the AP.
At the same time, it was noted that over time such clashes could become more deadly than the activities of the same group of Boko Haram.
Officially, the government of Nigeria did not declare the dead. About 86 victims, independent television channels reported, referring to the representative of the police of the State of Plateau, in which there were violent clashes.
"Boko Haram" is a radical Islamist organization in Nigeria, which in 2014, the UN Security Council was listed as a terrorist organization. For example, in 2009, members of the organization staged riots in northern Nigeria, attacking Christian churches and police stations. Then because of the activities of "Boko Haram" for four days, more than 700 people died.
