BRUSSELES (FNI) - Georgy Gabedava, released in the status of political prisoner on October 12, 2013 in Georgia, who was granted this status by a special parliamentary commission after the change of government, left Georgia because of repression and asked the Swedish government to grant him political asylum.
According to Front News International, Gabedava is in the Telefonplan refugee camp in Sweden with his pregnant wife Baia Dzagania.
The correspondent of FNI reports that because of intolerable conditions Gabedava asked the leadership of the asylum to change his place of residence with his wife, although it is still unknown what decision the immigration service will take.
Gabedava was recently detained during a protest in Tbilisi on May 13 and 17. According to Gabedava, the detention was illegal.
Gabadava at various times engaged in political activities, participated in the local elections in 2014 as an independent candidate.
